COVID-19 Secure Policy

Following the Coronavirus Pandemic, the world is a very different place and everyone has been affected in some way.   Here at The Kingsholm we have been working hard and we will do everything we possibly can to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible, but more importantly, as safe as possible.  In order to do this there are guidelines that we have to follow as instructed by the government.

We have owned the Kingsholm for 10 years now and pride ourselves in our high levels of cleanliness.  We hold the AA 4* Silver Award and also Food Hygiene Rating 5 (the highest achievable).

As we have no staff everything is done ‘in house’ by just the two of us so we have total control over everything.  All rooms are deep cleaned following guest departure, all linen is laundered at temperatures over 60 degrees and guest glassware, crockery and cutlery is put through the commercial dishwasher at high temperatures.

Before You Arrive

As per draft Government advice, please do not travel to us if you or anyone in your party is showing any of the common symptoms of coronavirus (fever, persistent cough, loss of taste or smell) we will be more than happy to re-arrange your stay for a future date.

We kindly request that you agree to follow our temporary new procedures and measures whilst you stay with us.

Arrival & Check In

Our Check-In time is from 3.00pm.  Please advise what time you are hoping to arrive so that we are able to accommodate all of our guests and keep the social distance measures in place.

Hand Sanitiser is available at the front door and we would ask you to use this when entering the building.  The hand sanitiser we use is sourced locally from The Brixham Gin Company and contains a minimum of 76% Alcohol.

Our usual registration form will not be required as hopefully we should have all your correct information prior to your stay.

Your key, which will have been sanitised from the previous guest, will be left in your room.

If you do not require luggage assistance, we will not come to your room with you and instead will direct you to it.  Should you need us to carry your bags to your room, we will follow you at a safe distance and place your bags outside your door.  We will wash or sanitise our hands immediately afterwards. 

Hallways & Stairways

Please maintain the required social distance at all times, if necessary going back into your bedroom to allow others to pass.

Your Bedroom

Please could you wash your hands with the anti-bacterial handwash provided on entering and before leaving your bedroom.

A ‘Welcome’ letter will be on your bed giving information about your stay and also our room servicing policy.

All cushions, throws, spare blankets and pillows have been removed from your room to make deep cleaning and sanitising easier.

Complimentary toiletries/cotton wool pads/tissues have been removed from rooms – please ask if you would like these.  However, if you wish to bring your own with you we totally understand this.

Our hospitality tray is still fully stocked in your room and if you require additional items please complete the form on your tray and leave it in the basket on the hall table either when you come down for Breakfast or go out for the day.

Honesty Bar

The Honesty Bar, which is in the Hallway is for our Guests at all times.  Firstly, before purchasing anything, please sanitise your hands and then afterwards, wipe the fridge door/handle with the anti-bacterial spray and paper tissue provided.

We will also, be cleaning this regularly throughout the day.


Breakfast will now be served in the Breakfast room and the Lounge to allow the correct spacing between tables.  This means that the Guest Lounge will remain locked at all other times.

The buffet breakfast has had to be removed and will now be served from behind the scenes. We still have the same delicious choice with a couple more homemade options now being offered.

Please sanitise your hands when entering the Breakfast Room.

Carl will meet you and direct you to your table.  Your order will then be taken, whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Condiments will be available in disposable sachets and along with Jam & Butter will be available on request rather than on your table.

Carl will wash his hands each time he alternates between delivering breakfast items and removing dirty crockery.

We hold a 5 star food hygiene rating (the highest achievable) and always adhere to the highest level of food hygiene and cleanliness.


We regret we cannot service your room if you are staying with us for 4 nights or less.  We have, however, provided you with a consumables order form and we will provide you with anything you need on a daily basis (e.g. tea bags, coffee, milk, toilet rolls etc).  Please just complete the form on your hospitality tray and leave it in the basket on the hall table on your way out.

We ask that you empty your own bin, placing sealed bags outside your door for collection.  We will enter your room briefly during the day only to drop off a bag of your requested items, a new order form and a fresh bin liner.

We will deep clean every room after a guest vacates it.  We will be wearing appropriate PPE and will ensure fresh cloths etc are always used when alternating rooms to ensure no  cross-contamination occurs.

Check Out

As much as we don’t like guests to leave, checkout time is 10.00 am.  This will allow us time to deep clean and make up the room.  We will of course see you to say ‘Goodbye’ before you leave, but if we could ask you to please put your Key and Car Park Permit (if you have one) in the plastic basket on the Hall Table so we may sanitise for our next Guests.


We are sure you understand that all the above measures are totally new to all of us and we are trying to do everything possible to keep our Guests safe, which is our Number 1 Priority, but at the same time have a relaxing and enjoyable break with us.

Other Information

If you use the ‘Smoking’ area, please keep the required social distance from other guests at all times.  This will include not smoking close to the front entrance of the house.

Should we find coronavirus on site, or Carl or June are tested positive or need to self-isolate, we may need to cancel your booking at short notice.  If this were to happen, a full refund or alternative dates would be offered.
